Zusammenfassung: Localization in indoor environments is an important aspect with regard to mobile security applications. Because here, the global positioning system (GPS) is not available or very imprecise, other positioning systems are required. For that matter wireless sensor networks provide two common approaches based on received signal strength indicators (RSSI). The first one uses fingerprints and the second is based on trilateration. Because fingerprinting needs a lot of training and (re-)calibration, this paper presents a new indoor positioning system based on RSSIs and trilateration using ZigBee technology. Since RSSI measurements are very susceptible to noise, the gathered RSSIs have to be preprocessed before they can be used for position calculations. For this reason, the RSSIs were averaged using time-dependent weights and smoothed over time so that outliers and old RSSIs can be eliminated. The presented indoor positioning system was verified by experiments.

Zusammenfassung: Repetitive processes are a class of 2D systems where information propagation in one direction is of finite duration. These processes make a series of sweeps, termed passes, through a set of dynamics and on completion of each pass resetting to the starting position occurs ready for the start of the next pass. The control problem is that the previous pass output, termed the pass profile, acts as a forcing function on the current pass and can result in oscillations that increase in amplitude from pass-to-pass. In the case of discrete dynamics, these processes have structural links with 2D systems described by the well known Roesser and Fornasini–Marchesini state-space models but some applications require updating structures that cannot be represented by these models. This requirement arises either in adequately modeling the dynamics or as a result of the control law structure and requires the development of a systems theory for eventual use in applications. In this paper such a theory is advanced through the development of new control law design algorithms.

Zusammenfassung: A new system for automatic privacy protection in digital media, based on Haar cascades and spectral domain watermarking is described in the present paper. In a first step faces are detected by means of Haar cascades. Integral images are used to speed up calculations and the detection. Multiple detections of one face are combined. Succeeding steps comprise embedding the data into the image using spectral domain methods and deleting the area of privacy. An extended Discrete Haar Transformation is developed to transform arbitrary matrices. A Spread Spectrum method is used to embed the size and position of the faces into the cover image. Different methods for embedding regarding their fidality and performance are compared. Additionally the performance of the methods after cropping the images is presented.
