Successful promotion of Adrian Bauer

25.04.2025|15:00 Uhr

On 25 April 2025, Mr Adrian Bauer successfully completed his doctorate at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Media Technology at the University of Wuppertal.

In his dissertation entitled "Deep Learning for Geodata Analysis - Methods and Applications for Change Detection and Roof Shape Prediction"
(Shaker Verlag, Aachen 2025, ISBN 978-3-8191-0094-9)
, Mr Bauer deals with the application of modern deep learning methods to geodata. The aim is to automatically recognise spatial changes and reliably classify building properties such as roof shapes.

The work focuses on methods for change detection in aerial and street images and for automated roof shape analysis, which are based on current AI models such as the Segment Anything Model (SAM). The methods developed show how customised neural networks enable efficient and robust processing of large volumes of geodata and thus open up new perspectives for applications in urban planning, cadastre and smart city research.

Prof. Dr Anton Kummert was the main speaker and Prof. Dr Gerhard Schmidt (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel) was the co-lecturer.
The Chair congratulates Dr Adrian Bauer on successfully completing his doctorate and wishes him all the best and every success for his future scientific and professional career.
